ABOUT JAIME & SHE TRAVELS SOLO

I’ve always dreamt of exploring the world. It wasn't until university that I turned this dream into my reality (thanks to a few generous scholarships). My life completely changed after accepting a fellowship in Tel Aviv, Israel (2014). Without much knowledge of the country, I went, and I was blown away by its beauty. There, I met some of my closest friends and it was the most eye-opening summer of my life. That said, there were definitely tribulations…  The last four weeks I was in Israel, Palestinian/Israeli conflict arose and I found myself running into bomb shelters daily. I received countless messages from family and friends back in the States telling me to come home. I stayed.

Since 2014, I've visited over 50 countries and my desire and curiosity to explore the world has only grown. From chasing the aurora borealis in Lofoten Islands, Norway to biking around the suburbs of Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam to volunteering at a preschool in a Gypsy village in western Macedonia traveling has forever changed how I view the world.

In August 2019, I decided that I was going to embark on a six-month solo adventure (my longest expedition yet!). This journey meant abandoning the familiar- Selling my Prius, giving up my apartment, and putting all of my belongings in a 5x5 storage unit.

This site is designed to empower you to travel. Whether in college, recently divorced, seeking purpose in life, wanting to escape the known, etc., there’s nothing better than a trip. Whether solo or in a group, I believe that travel enhances perspectives more than any other experience. For some, I know that exploring the world seems like an unfathomable goal. I firmly believe that although some places are trickier than others to visit, and finding the time can be rather difficult, everyone can travel. I've personally met people from all over the world who have found a way to travel on just a few dollars per day or with physical constraints. This is a space for backpackers to talk about all aspects of their travels. No topic or place is off limits!
